NDP Leader Avi Lewis to visit communities across Atlantic Canada

OTTAWA – NDP Leader Avi Lewis will travel across Atlantic Canada beginning on September 25 to talk to people in the region about the NDP’s bold solutions for tackling the cost-of-living emergency.

The tour will begin in St. John’s on Friday evening, where Lewis will meet with local supporters and volunteers at a social event organized by the Newfoundland and Labrador NDP. On Saturday, September 26, he will address the NL NDP Convention.

The tour will also include stops in Charlottetown, Fredericton, and Saint John. It will conclude in Dartmouth on September 30.

Throughout the tour, Lewis will participate in public town halls, meet with workers and labour leaders, and speak with local supporters and organizers about the issues affecting their communities.

From housing and groceries to wages and jobs, people across Atlantic Canada are feeling the pressures of an economy that puts the interests of corporations ahead of working people.

As the federal government continues to cave in to the demands of CEOs and foreign investors in the name of building a stronger Canada, the NDP is fighting to ensure that workers, communities and the environment remain at the centre of Canada’s economic future.

“People across Atlantic Canada know what it means to work hard and still struggle to get ahead,” said NDP Leader Avi Lewis. “They know that our economy is rigged against them, when groceries, housing and other essentials keep getting more expensive even as the country keeps generating more and more wealth. I’m looking forward to meeting people across the region, listening to what they’re facing, and talking about how we can build an economy that fights for the many, not the money.”
